FINE ART

BLACK ART IS HIGH

For generations, Black artists have struggled to claim their rightful place in the fine art world. Despite immeasurable contributions to global art movements, African American artists have historically faced systemic exclusion from galleries, museums, and major art markets. Yet, through resilience and boundless creativity, Black artists have continuously redefined art itself pushing boundaries, challenging narratives, and giving voice to the collective Black experience.

From the Harlem Renaissance to the Afrofuturist movement, Black art is the soul of innovation, merging tradition with contemporary expression. Artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat brought street art into galleries, while pioneers like Romare Bearden and Faith Ringgold wove personal and cultural stories into collage and quilted masterpieces. Today, Black art stands as both a powerful form of resistance and a celebration of identity, culture, and history.

Black Art Is High Art is an online art event designed to honor that legacy. Each curated piece reflects the rich tapestry of Black history and modernity, offering viewers an opportunity to own a part of this ongoing story. One of the standout works is the highly praised Minty piece that captures the strength and spirit of Black liberation through the eyes of Harriet Tubman.

In this collection, you’ll find original paintings and limited-edition posters, each with its own story to tell. These works are not merely decorative; they are visual poems and symbolic narratives that resonate with the shared experiences of the African diaspora.

Because Black Art has always been High Art.
